Ms. Bell was one of eight school board members from around the state to be presented the All State School Board Award at the 2013 and 2015 NCSBA Annual Conference.

In 2016 she was awarded the prestigious Raleigh Dingham Award. This is the highest recognition for a school board member in the state.

In 2017 , Governor Cooper appointed her to the Public School Forum Advisory Board.


Ms Bell is an active member of the North Carolina Caucus of Black School Board Members and has also served on the Selective Service Board since 2011. 


Ms Bell is a member of the First Baptist Church, Hubbard Street, where she serves on the Senior Usher Board, the Education Committee and Mission Group Three.


In 2014 she was recognized as a "Woman of Worth" for her community volunteer service beyond home, job, and church.

In 2014, she received the NAACP Civil Rights Memorial Award for her past accomplishments in the area of civil rights in the community. 

She retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools as Assistant Superintendent of School Administration.


She is currently completing sixteen years on the Rockingham County School Board

Ms Bell is committed to serving and "standing up " for public education.
